Dr. Ramana Reddy is an ACIPCO endowed professor and Professor of metallurgical and materials engineering, The University of Alabama. His academic administration and research work experiences include: Head of the MTE department; Associate Director of the UA Center for Green Manufacturing; Professor and Chairman, Department of Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering, University of Nevada, Reno; and Visiting Researcher at the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory, University of California, Berkeley; Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay; and Argonne National Laboratory, Chicago; National Renewable Energy Laboratory, Golden. He was appointed as the University of Alabama Coordinator for the National Space Science and Technology Center, NASA and served as a Council Member for the Alabama State Committee for DoD-EPSCoR programs.
Professor Reddy has teaching and research experience in the field of materials engineering, particularly in the areas of materials manufacturing, extraction, thermodynamics, fuel cells, ionic liquids, and thermal energy storage materials. He has published over 484 papers and 27 books, including a textbook on thermodynamics. He has supervised 118 Ph.D. & M.S. graduate students and postdoctoral & visiting fellows. He is the recipient of 5 patents. He received funding for research projects from various federal and private organizations (NSF, DOE, DOD, and Industry).
He has received several significant professional recognition and awards: SEC Faculty Achievement Award, AIME Mineral Industry Education Award, Burnum Distinguished Faculty Award. He is a Fellow of three materials Societies: SME, ASM International and TMS.
