Szilvási joined the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at The University of Alabama as an Assistant Professor in Fall 2020. His research group aims to (i) to understand and improve catalytic reactions, (ii) to identify functional soft materials, and (iii) to design complex interfaces for energy and sensor applications. To achieve these goals, the Szilvási group develops computational methods and protocols for material design.
Professor Szilvási has recently been awarded the NSF CAREER Award (2024), the Outstanding Research Impact Award of the Department (2024), the Early Career Research Excellence and Innovation Award of the College of Engineering (2024), the President’s Faculty Research Award of the University (2022), and the Outstanding Professor Award of Department for teaching excellence (2022).
His group’s research is supported by the National Science Foundation, the U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S. Department of Defense, the U.S. Department of Education, the Krell Institute. Szilvási currently serves as the Vice President of the Southeastern Catalysis Society (SECS).
