Dr. David Cordes, professor of computer science, retired in September 2019 after 31 years at The University of Alabama. His research interests focused primarily on software systems, including distributed and networked systems as well as component-based development. Dr. Cordes served as department head for Computer Science from 1997 to 2018 and was the director of the College’s Freshman Engineering Program from 2007 to 2018. Dr. Cordes has been active with accreditation activities since 1997, including serving as national chair of the ABET Computing Accreditation Commission (CAC) in 2013-2014.
