Formerly a practicing Geotechnical Engineer (2012-2019), I earned a Ph.D. from UA in 2022 and shifted my career to academia. I gained experience teaching civil engineering students from the freshman to the graduate student level throughout my time at UA (2019-2022) and at William Jewell College (2022-2025), a small, liberal arts college in the Kansas City Metro Area.
Key areas of scholarly interest include ways to better prepare graduates for work in engineering design; practical laboratory learning experiences; improving success, well-being, and engagement of first and second year students; vocational discernment and personal development of aspiring engineers; and increasing scholarly and professional interest in the geotechnical sub-discipline. I’m always interested in ways to improve what I do so that our students are successful and able to go forward to have fulfilling lives and careers in the field of civil engineering, and I believe that this can best be achieved by collaboration with students, colleagues, and professionals and data-driven consideration of our curriculum, teaching, and student experiences.
