The minor in computing technology and applications (offered by the computer science department) is primarily designed for students who are seeking to become computer literate in today’s rapidly advancing technology. This minor requires 18 hours of CS courses that are specifically designed for non-majors.
REQUIREMENTS
- CS 102: Computer Applications: 3 hours.
- Six (6) hours of CS courses that complete one of the four sequences listed below:
- CS 202 and CS 312 (Web)
- CS 223 and CS 323 (Python Programming)
- CS 285 and CS 385 (Spreadsheets)
- CS 302 and CS 305 (Databases)
- CS 340 and CS 345 (Law and Ethics)
- Nine (9) hours of additional courses offered by the Computer Science Department. Most students select their nine hours courses from the list below:
- CS 104 – Computer Science Principles
- CS 202 – Web Foundations
- CS 223 Introduction to Python Programming
- CS 285 – Spreadsheet Applications
- CS 302 – Database Applications
- CS 305 – Advanced Computer Database Systems
- CS 312 – Website Design
- CS 340 – Legal and Ethical Issues in Computing
- CS 345 – Advanced Legal and Ethical Issues
- CS 385 – Advanced Spreadsheet Applications
- CS 391 – Special Topics
COMMENTS
- The following courses all carry a C-designation and thus can be used towards the completion of your Core Curriculum requirements:
- CS 102, CS104, CS 202, CS 312, CS 285, CS 302, CS 305, CS 322, CS 340, CS 345, CS 385
- CS 391 special-topics courses will count towards the 18 hours for this minor. However, they do not carry a C-designation and thus cannot be used towards your Core Curriculum requirements.
- For students in the College of Arts & Sciences, at least two of your CS courses must be 300-level or higher.
