Dr. Yoon’s research interests include modeling, simulation, and control of dynamic systems, with a current focus on applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) in automotive, transportation, and manufacturing systems. Current and past research projects conducted by Dr. Yoon’s research group include:
- Monitoring and controlling traffic systems using ML and road-side cameras.
- Vision-based estimation and control of excavator manipulators.
- Using ML and cameras for monitoring and estimating factory floor safety and manufacturing efficiency.
- Developing supervisory controllers for hybrid electric and battery electric vehicles.
- Determining the time-to-failure for automotive system components through ML.
