Dr. Sichen Yuan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics at The University of Alabama. He earned his master’s and doctoral degrees from the Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Southern California in 2014 and 2019, respectively. He received his Bachelor’s degree from the School of Mechanical Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2012.

From 2019 to 2023, Dr. Yuan was associated with the Department of Mechanical, Industrial, and Robotics Engineering at Lawrence Technological University. Throughout his academic journey, he has dedicated his efforts to research areas including deployable structures, dynamics systems, mechanical vibration, robotics, artificial intelligence, and mechanical metamaterials. His groundbreaking work has been featured in esteemed academic journals like the International Journal of Solids and Structures, AIAA Journal, Engineering Structures, and Acta Astronautica, and has garnered support from institutions such as the National Science Foundation.​
