Dr. Sichen Yuan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics at The University of Alabama. He earned his master’s and doctoral degrees from the Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Southern California in 2014 and 2019, respectively. He received his Bachelor’s degree from the School of Mechanical Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2012.
From 2019 to 2023, Dr. Yuan was associated with the Department of Mechanical, Industrial, and Robotics Engineering at Lawrence Technological University. Throughout his academic journey, he has dedicated his efforts to research areas including deployable structures, dynamics systems, mechanical vibration, robotics, and artificial intelligence. His groundbreaking work has been featured in esteemed academic journals like the International Journal of Solids and Structures, Applied Mathematical Modeling, AIAA Journal, Engineering Structures, and Acta Astronautica, and has garnered support from institutions such as National Science Foundation, Office of Naval Research and American Heart Association. He is the recipient of the prestigious Office of Naval Research’s 2026 Young Investigator Award and American Heart Association’s Second Century Early Faculty Independence Award.
