Abstract:
Building safer, greener and more inclusive transport systems is a global priority as countries face rising road traffic injuries, climate pressures and persistent mobility inequities. In the Global South, these challenges are amplified by limited resources and data constraints, but they also create opportunities for innovative, context-responsive and collaborative solutions. Drawing on applied research and transport projects from Namibia and Southern Africa, this seminar demonstrates how evidence-based approaches to transport planning and engineering, road safety and emissions-aware infrastructure development can deliver meaningful safety, environmental and social outcomes.
